Breadwinners is an ambitious grassroots charity set up in 2016.
Since June 2017, they have employed refugees who sell the highest quality organic bread on farmer’s markets across London.
Their model uses our award winning bread stalls in markets across London as our base for two programmes: Risers, which provides structured work experience, training and mentorship to newly arrived young people seeking asylum; and Breadwinners, the follow up programme for refugees with the right to work having their first paid job in London as market stall managers.
In the last two years they have supported 83 refugees and young people seeking asylum.
Provides early intervention support for young people seeking asylum aged 16 to 24. This programme supports them on a tailored work experience, training and mentoring programme based on our market stalls to build transferable skills, grow their networks, gain UK work experience and access mentoring so they are better integrated and prepared to gain employment when they do receive status.
"84% of our “Risers Programme” participants who gained their right to work permit since graduating from the programme are now in part time employment"
