About the event

We’re back again for another edition of our Fashion Sustainability Sunday! This will be a special one, as it will be co-hosted by Crisis as a fundraising event. Especially during these cold winter months Crisis’ support to homeless people is invaluable, so we very much encourage all of you to come to the swap and in this way support the good cause! We’ll be accepting donations at the door throughout the day. __________________________________________________________

As with the last editions of the Fashion Sustainability Sunday, the main part of the event will consist out of a clothes swap. And is there any better time for a swap than the beginning of the new year!? A survey by the environmental charity Hubbub shows that Britons spend £2.4bn on new Christmas outfits, yet many of those items will never be worn again. Don’t be a part of this! Instead, come and bring all those cocktail dresses, high heels and fancy suits and make someone else happy, while gaining a new outfit yourself.

But it’s more than just a swap. Fashion is one of the most polluting industries in the world, and we’ve invited several speakers (to be announced) to talk about it. Besides, there will be lots of fun activities throughout the day. Come and learn how to print Love Shack’s funky logo on one of your T-shirts, or join a workshop decorating clothes hangers using a wood burning technique. And as with our previous editions, we’ll again have a repair and up-cycle station, this time hosted by fashion designer Margaret.

In the afternoon (exact times will follow), Nick, manager of the Crisis Shop in Hackney, will be giving a short talk on the organisation’s work and why it is so important to support the charity.

This will be a family-friendly event, so feel free to bring clothes for all ages.

As usual, our kitchen and bar will be open for plant-based food and drinks. Come and try our famous mushroom-y drinks, especially the Roar Cacao! Or get some Hot-Tails to bring you some much needed heat during this cold winter time. How about a hot oat chocolate with Spiced Rum and Cointreau, just like a Terry’s Chocolate Orange, but better!

We’d love to see you there! Peace, Love and Sustainability
