We've been in Cambridge Heath long enough to know every corner of this part of East London. The hidden parks, the
Sunday markets, the venues that don't show up on tourist guides, the coffee shops worth cycling to. Consider this our love letter to the neighbourhood we call home.
Saturday Morning
Broadway Market (E8): Saturday market in Hackney with strong independent coffee, good street food, local produce, and a great Saturday morning atmosphere.
Nelly Duff (174 Columbia Road, E2): One of London's best street art and print galleries. Free entry, genuinely excellent work.
Saturday Afternoon
Victoria Park (E9): A 15-minute walk or 5-minute cycle from Love Shack. One of London's great parks with a lido, café, event spaces, and a completely unpretentious atmosphere.
Columbia Road Flower Market (Columbia Road, E2): Opens at 8am. The street is lined with sellers, and the flowers are extraordinary and affordable. Combine it with coffee at one of the independent cafés along the road.
V&A Museum of Childhood (Cambridge Heath Road, E2): Free entry. An entire museum dedicated to the history of childhood, with extraordinary collections spanning several centuries. Great for families.
Saturday Evening — Love Shack
By the time Saturday evening arrives, you deserve a proper meal. Love Shack is a 3-minute walk from the Museum of Childhood and directly underneath Cambridge Heath Overground station. Book ahead for Saturday evenings — it fills up. Start with oyster mushroom wings and the Tickle My Pickle cocktail. Order the vegan Peking duck pancakes as a sharer. Consider the 11-mushroom risotto as a main. End with the sticky toffee pudding.
Sunday Morning
Brick Lane Bagel Shops: A London institution. Arrive between 9 and 11am on a Sunday for the full chaotic, wonderful experience.
Sunday UpMarket at the Old Truman Brewery: Weekly Sunday market in Shoreditch with food, fashion, art, and independent makers.
Love Shack Sunday Brunch — arguably the best vegan brunch in East London. Check loveshackldn.com for current brunch times and menus.
